Hi friend, If you’ve ever felt like your students are reading the words but not really understanding the story, you’re not alone! Teaching reading comprehension can be tricky — especially when you’re trying to make it meaningful and engaging. The good news? You can teach comprehension in a way that’s active, hands-on, and even fun. One of the most effective approaches is the Super Six Comprehension Strategies — a framework that helps young readers think deeply about what they read through six key skills: Each one gives students a different lens to understand text — and when you combine them, you’re building confident, thoughtful readers who enjoy the process. To help you bring these strategies to life, I’ve shared a blog post full of ideas, examples, and a free classroom tool: It’s packed with easy ways to make comprehension interactive — like giving each student a “role” (the Questioner, the Visualizer, the Summarizer, etc.) so they can practice thinking like a reader during small group or whole-class reading. 💡 Want ready-to-use classroom tools? If you’d like to save time planning and get your students excited about reading, these resources are perfect for introducing and reinforcing the Super Six in your classroom:
