Make Phonics Fun This Year with Crowns & Writing! 👑✏️

Hi there,

Whether your students are just starting phonics or you’re revisiting sounds mid-year, one of the most engaging ways to teach or reinforce phonics is with Phonics Headbands!

Here’s how it works: introduce a sound, have your students create a crown for that sound, and then let them wear their crown around the classroom all day. It’s a playful, hands-on reminder of the sound, and you can even ask, “What sound is on your crown today?” as a quick, interactive check-in.

As you introduce or review sounds, it’s also the perfect time to get your students writing. My Kindergarten Sentence Building Decodable CVC resource lets students practice building and writing sentences with the sounds they’re learning. It’s a great way to reinforce phonics while helping young writers gain confidence.
